The United Nations Youth Association of Victoria (UNYA Vic) is a not-for-profit youth organisation run entirely by and for young people between the ages of 15 and 24.

UNYA Vic strives to Educate young people about local, national and international issues; provide an outlet for Expression of youth opinion and Empower young people to engage with society. We hold events for school students including the Thant Trophy Model UN Debating Competition and annual residential State and Regional Conferences. We also run policy campaigns and members' events throughout the year.


Deakin University is proud to sponsor the Thant Trophy 2010.

Julian McMahon, barrister to Van Nguyen and the Bali Nine, and Kelly Ng, one of Van's school friends and organiser of the grassroots campaign in Australia to save him, talk about their personal experiences of the death penalty, a practice still occurring in many Asian and other countries.
