UNYA's state divisions conduct policy campaigns on various international issues. UNYA Policy Campaigns, which usually span either 6 or 12 months involve selecting a particular policy issue (for example UNYA Victoria's 2009 campaign theme, Fair Trade), hosting regular discussion groups and information nights on the issue to gather youth opinion on the matter and the formulation of policy documents, entitled Blue Papers, which are adopted as part of a national UNYA policy platform. These policies are promoted to the media and public and private bodies as part of this process. In addition, UNYA also supports external policy campaigns with a United Nations focus. For example UNYA is a founding member of the Australian Youth Climate Change Coalition, UNYA Victoria also plays a key role in the MakePovertyHistory global awareness campaign, and also plays a key part in a number of UNYA National events designed to highlight the importance of internationalism in Australia's polity.

UNYA's events and UNYA's policy are intertwined: since the issues debated at our Education Days, State Conferences, and Thant Trophies are invariably the issues that matter most to young people today. Therefore, we've decided to list some links helpful to you if you'd like to take a closer look at foreign affairs:

While every effort has been made to ensure the list below is accurate, links may break over time. If there are any problems with any links, please notify our Webmaster.
